Choosing
There was a stillness as I watched my son work on the beach. As mothers it can be very easy to get wrapped up in the worry and concern for our teens and all that they may or may not be doing. But are we also taking time to see their good? To see the burdens they face and all that they are asked to make sense of in this changing world? Shortly after taking this picture my son and his friends went to their high school’s football game. As they were heading out after the game, someone threw firework mortars into the student section. A second blast was near my son as they exited to the parking lot and he felt the force of the explosion on his back as he turned to run. My prayers have changed over the past couple weeks as I have been asking for protection over my children. My son and his friends were protected. I believe in the power of prayer. It is a conscious belief that I choose and hold dear. I am also choosing to see the good in my child as he navigates his teen years.
