Ep. 25 Start Your Year Here
I'm Lacey Jones, and this is Elevate the Individual. Episode 25. Start Your Year Here. Say that ten times fast. It's official. We made it to 2023. Can you believe it? Some months and days were prettier than others, but we did it. And I am excited for this first podcast of 2023 because we're going to mix things up and we're going to do things a little bit different than previous episodes, and it's going to be fun and very beneficial. So you may have noticed that this episode is quite a bit shorter than previous episodes, and that's because I need you to do something rather than just listen.
So you kind of have homework, but don't sign off just yet. Please hear me out. It's relatively painless and very doable, and it's going to be so beneficial to you. So you just got to trust me on this one. As is custom with the start of each new year, people are talking about goals. I'm sure you've scrolled through all sorts of reels with different ideas for goals and seen posts about setting goals, and maybe you've set some for yourself, or maybe you have some kind of ruminating in the far reaches of your subconscious.
Well, love them or hate them, goals are just a natural part of life, and January 1 tends to highlight them a little bit more. But how effective are goals if we don't first know our starting point? How can you measure progress or even know that you're making progress if you don't first know from where you are starting? What if you set out to run a five K and there was no finish line? How would you know when to stop running? And where would the race officials put the finish line if they didn't know their starting point? If we are to measure progress, we have to have a starting point. So this is where the preassessment comes in. If you take a look at the show notes for this episode, you're going to notice a link to the 2023 preassessment. This is a great way to gather key information before setting your goals so that the goals that you set are more accurate and more attainable.
It is so super fast and most of the questions are simple ratings that you give yourself with short answer questions at the end. So the purpose of this assessment, as I stated before, is to just offer you a starting point. And then from there, we're going to build your goals for the year or the month or the week or the day, whatever you see fit.
So on this podcast, over the course of the next four weeks, we're going to find the starting point, we're going to set goals, we're going to create protocols, and then we're going to review what to do when things go off course. Because there's a pretty good chance we're going to go off course at some point in time. Now, after you've completed the assessment, you'll have the option to sign up for a free coaching session with me. And it's just 25 minutes. It's super easy. And it's this great way to cover any questions that you have kind of about the assessment or thoughts that may have come up or goals or anything you're kind of pondering on. It's totally optional, but I highly recommend it. These calls are so fun, and like I said, they're only 25 minutes and they're free. And then once you've completed that assessment, I want you to go back and I want you to listen to episode ten. It's called The Titles We Wear, and that episode is going to give you some things to kind of chew on before we dig into setting the goals next week. And so kind of get your brain moving in that direction. And I was re listening to it today and I just thought, man, that is so vital to where we're going.
So before I let you go, do you know what your next step is? You're going to scroll down in the show notes, you're going to click the 2023 preassessment link, and then you're going to fill that out. Schedule a free session if you feel so inclined, and then you're going to go listen to episode ten. And that link is also in the show notes. Okay, you got this. Now go have some fun on the reflect action. We'll see you next weekend.
